Scam Call2026/03/25 11:50

Why Nagoya?

Recently, I’ve been getting automated phone calls saying, “This is Nagoya Customs. Press #1.”
It’s obviously a scam. It’s annoying, but I just ignore it.

One Small Step

I received several positive replies from clients for my micro‑business.
I told myself, “That’s one small step for me, and maybe the beginning of one Frog’s Leap for my micro‑business.”
I feel like uncorking a bottle of white wine.

A Day in My Life

I went to Shinjuku to see an exhibition.
Shinjuku Station is a huge underground labyrinth.  After navigating the maze, I finally managed to reach the museum—only to find out that it’s closed on Mondays.
    Today just isn’t my day.

The First Snowfall of the Season

Snowflakes keep falling on my head.
It’s the first snowfall of the season.
Today will be the coldest day yet.

Actions Needed

I took an important step for my micro business.
    No action, no progress.

Selfish and Dangerous?

Following its exit from the Paris Agreement, the United States has announced its intention to withdraw from the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) and the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
Such actions by a major global power risk undermining worldwide efforts to address global warming.
Those political actions might not only be selfish but also dangerous maneuvers.

 “Amexit” from the Paris Agreement

The United States has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement.
The departure of one of the world’s largest CO₂ emitters from the international pact significantly undermines hopes of mitigating global climate change.
Japan should shift its climate policy from mitigation to adaptation.

Campaign2026/01/24 22:49

The general election campaigns have substantially begun.

Each party and its candidates have presented their public commitments. Most candidates have stated similar promises, such as lowering the consumption tax, stimulating the economy, and ensuring a secure society.
These commitments sound good, but I’m not sure how reliable they are. It’s important to distinguish candidates who walk the talk from those who only talk the talk.

Frozen Pond

This morning, I saw Shinobazu-no-ike frozen over.
It was the first time I’d seen ice on the pond this winter.

Catch-22 !?2026/01/23 15:34

A Catch‑22 Kind of Situation

I joined an English lesson. Although the session was interesting, I was worried about a note on the wall that said, “Speak English in the session.” It made me wonder whether I was allowed to ask questions about my English problems in Japanese.
I face these problems because my English ability is limited, so without Japanese I can’t explain the issues in detail. But if I were able to explain my English problems well enough in English, I probably wouldn’t need to ask the teacher in the first place, because that would mean my English was already good enough.
I was afraid that this “Speak English” rule might put students in a Catch‑22 situation.
