A Way to Cast NHK-One
Since I couldn’t cast NHK-One from my iPad to my TV using either my old Chromecast or a Thunderbolt–HDMI cable, I followed some advice on the internet and tried connecting my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable.
In the end, it worked!
The laptop-to-TV connection is a bit troublesome, though.

E-filing of tax forms
I e-filed the returns for corporate tax, local tax, and consumption tax for my micro-business using the e-Tax and eLTAX systems.
It was my first time using these systems for the business, so I had some difficulties learning how they work. Still, I managed to handle it.
After all, electronic filing is much better than filling out paper forms by hand.

A Round Trip to the Hokuriku Region
I took a week-long trip around the Hokuriku region, visiting Ishikawa and Fukui Prefectures.
In Kanazawa, I went to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art and experienced its famous Swimming Pool installation. I also visited Kenrokuen Garden and a local history museum.
Along the way, I enjoyed a gorgeous crab dinner in Yamanaka Onsen resort, the folklore of the demon mask at Gankeiji Temple, the dramatic cliffs of Tojinbo, and the beautifully restored townscape of Ichijodani.

On my way back to Tokyo, I stopped by Kyoto to see the 1,001 Kannon statues at Sanjusangendo Temple.
Overall, it was a fantastic journey through the spirit of ancient Japan.

A Day in My Life
I went to Shinjuku to see an exhibition.
Shinjuku Station is a huge underground labyrinth. After navigating the maze, I finally managed to reach the museum—only to find out that it’s closed on Mondays.
Today just isn’t my day.
Tax Return ― 2026/01/18 23:44
E-filing an income tax return
I e‑filed my tax return expecting a tax rebate from the local Furusato contribution scheme.
We can’t submit a paper tax return before February, but the e‑government system allows us to file electronically in January. The system is easy to use, and I appreciate the move toward digitizing the tax system.

ハロウィンの日だが、渋谷と違って柏駅前にはコスプレ族の一人も見ない。
髙島屋の飾りつけも随分と控えめだ。
LINE使用不可！？ ― 2025/10/31 00:21
□かろうじてセーフ。
ぼんやりとTVのニュースを見ていたら、古いiPhoneでは「LINE」が使えなくなると言う。11月のバージョンアップに伴い、iOS15以上でないと動かなくなるそうだ。慌てて、自分のiPhone6S（7年物）を確認するとiOS15.8.5であり、かろうじてセーフだった。
しかし、多分次のバージョンアップではアウトだろう、こうやって古いスマホが使えなくなっていくんだと、妙に納得した。一度取り換えた電池の容量も80％を切りそうになってきているし、そろそろ替え時ということか。できれば、スマホ新法の対応品が出回る来年までは、何とか使い続けたいものだ。
