An antenna shop run by JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) has begun serving rice bowl dishes. I tried the tuna bowl for lunch.
The seafood was tasty, and the accompanying kabu turnip soup was surprisingly delicious.

Takenoko Bamboo Shoot Lunch at Kisaki
I enjoyed a seasonal gift from nature at the Japanese restaurant Kisaki by the Oohori River. They cook bamboo shoots from their own bamboo grove in various ways—boiled, grilled, or fried with vegetables, fish, meat, and rice.
The Takenoko Bamboo Shoot Set is the restaurant’s seasonal specialty, available only at this time of year.
In other words, I ate spring.

FukuZushi
I enjoyed a sushi lunch at FukuZushi.
All the sushi was refined, delicious, and so beautiful that they looked like edible jewels.
In particular, the rare shirasu, the lightly seared tuna, and the anago with sweet brown sauce were quite impressive.

Foods on the Hokuriku Trip
One of the joys of traveling is tasting local foods.
In the Hokuriku region, I enjoyed gold‑leaf‑covered ice cream, fresh fish sushi, a fancy lunch at the museum café, and the popular oden stew in Kanazawa.
I also had a gorgeous crab dinner and an abalone steak at onsen hotels, tasty seafood dishes at an izakaya near Fukui Station, and Echizen soba noodles at the historical park.
On my way home, I stopped by Kyoto and ate venison curry at Kyoto Botanical Garden, and a beautiful tomato salad at a restaurant in the station mall.

I paid 680 yen for a bowl of temtama (tempura‑egg) soba. These days, even at places like that, it’s hard to find anything under 500 yen.

不忍池前の「伊豆英」でウナギのかば焼き。
