Fixing the Symptom?
I happened to notice that the battery indicator on my old iPhone is working again. It had stopped functioning right after I updated the iPhone’s OS. Although resetting the device didn’t seem to have any effect at first, the indicator eventually came back.
It may simply take a few days for the reset to become effective.
Anyway, all’s well that ends well.

I tried several fixes I found online, such as resetting the device, but nothing solved the problem. In the end, I decided to ignore the indicator for the sake of my peace of mind.

Scale on the Wine Glass
I noticed some tarnish on the rims of my wine glasses while tasting wine. I tried to remove the water stains with regular dish detergent, but it didn’t work.
So I looked for alternatives and found a “baking soda solution” online. Using baking soda with a crumpled ball of Saran Wrap, I was able to wipe off the scale on the glasses.

Uchiwa-fan-style Antenna
The structure is very simple—basically just an uchiwa with aluminum foil attached. To make it even easier, I used a disposable aluminum bowl instead of foil.
Despite its humble appearance, the antenna works surprisingly well.

Replacement of the Battery
At first, I tried to ask the manufacturer’s customer service department to replace the battery, but I found out that my TV is too old for official repairs.
So, I searched online for a new battery and ordered one for about ¥3000. Thanks to a DIY website, I was able to replace the battery myself. It was easier than I expected, and the TV is working perfectly again.

年が明けたら、ガス風呂釜（NORITZ)のリモコンのいつも時刻が出ている処に、「８８８」と言う謎の数字が出てきて点滅を始めた。何事かとトリセツで調べると、「１０年使用したのだから点検（有料）しなさい」と言うメッセージで故障ではなかった。
使用には差し支えないがなんとも煩わしい。ググるとちゃんと裏技が出ていたので、その通り運転ボタンを５回素早く入り切りすると、通常の時刻表示に戻った。
これで１年間は安泰だそうだ、やれやれ。

□阿呆みたいな話
ラジカセの電源が勝手に入りラジオが鳴り始める怪異が続いた。調べると近所に強力な違法電波発生源があると起きることがあるらしい、単純に電源スイッチの劣化も考えられる。無論、ポルターガイストと言う心躍る可能性も。
しかし、ラジオが鳴りだす時間がいつも決まっているのに気が付いた。よもやと思ってインディケーターを見るとタイマーの表示が出ていた。どうも無意識に設定ボタンを押してしまったようだ。すぐに解除したが、そもそもそれまでタイマー機能があることすら気が付かなかったのだから、阿呆みたいな話だ。

□南柏の駅前にあった。
少し欲しいものがあって、一番近い「Yelow Hat」を探したら、南柏駅から５分の所にあった。これは便利だ。

□煩わしい赤ランプを消す
気が付いたらトイレの水洗ボタンに赤いランプが点灯していた。およそ１０年くらい使っていると自動的に点くＬＥＤで、点検と買い替えを促しているらしい。故障の表示ではないのでそのまま使っていても支障はないが煩わしい。
取説によれば、消すには有料の点検を受けないといけないらしいが、先だっても一万円かけて水漏れ点検とタンク清掃をしてもらったばかりだ、LEDを消すためにだけまたお金を払いたくないな、と思ってググったら、ちゃんと解決策が出ていた。
リモコンの「おしり」と「洗浄強さ（+）」を同時に長押しすれば良いらしい。
最初やってみたが変化がなかった、しかし、便座の蓋を開けてもう一度長押ししたら見事に点検ランプが消えた。タイミングの問題なのか蓋を開けたのが良かったのかは不明であるが、まあ良しとしよう。

□やはり車はトヨタが一番？
先日車検をしてもらったばかりのディーラーから葉書が来た。なんでも新車販売を止めるそうだ。もともと買った店が廃業したので、系列の今の店で面倒を見てもらっていたのだが、そこも業務を整理する訳だ。数年来進めて来た高級車路線が裏目に出たのではないか。
サービス工場としては続くと書いてあるのだが、いつまで大丈夫なのだろう。やはり長い目で見ると、日本で乗るならトヨタ車が一番安心ということか。
そう言えばそのトヨタの高級車「ミライ」、今程度の良い中古車が凄く安く買えるらしい。車のプロも超お買い得と言っていた、もし近くに水素ステーションがあれば。
