A Day for Goodbye
Wak-san and I went to Kawasaki Hokubu Saien funeral hall to see off our old huckleberry friend, Kmy-san. Since he had no close relatives, we were the only ones there.
We sent his coffin into the crematory and placed his bones into an urn after the pyre. It was a quiet, fitting day for goodbye.

Sudden Death
Yesterday, I heard that my ex‑colleague had suddenly collapsed at a station, and today the news turned even worse. I was informed that he passed away.
I never expected his death — he was only 75, and my friends and I enjoyed a Christmas party with him just last year. He seemed perfectly healthy then.
So, I am frightened and deeply saddened by his sudden death.
The news reminds me of the simple fact that we are all mortal.
R.I.P. to Kmy-san.

The Magnificent Seven?
I held a reunion party with my ex‑coworkers who joined the company in the same year.
We gathered at Rikugien Garden to see the famous weeping cherry tree in full bloom. After the sakura viewing, we enjoyed an Italian dinner and shared nostalgic stories.
Although we expected eight people, Wak‑san couldn’t join us because of a silly incident. So, in the end, we became the Magnificent Seven — Ich‑san, Ohk‑san, Ono‑san, Kat‑san, Kur‑san, Mat‑san, and me.

Our successors shared updates on their recent work and prepared a wonderful party for us.

Connections
Ten old friends gathered at a Japanese restaurant in Kagurazaka.
Although they had worked for different companies, they once spent a short period working together in the same place.
Despite the brief time as coworkers, the experience left such a strong impression that they still hold a reunion every year.
We enjoyed dinner together and shared nostalgic memories from our golden days.

駅前のホテルの中華で、絵のクラブの忘年会。退職した年寄りばかりなので大手を振って昼飲みだった。つい色々と飲む。

昔の同僚たちと、Xmas飾りできらめく上野の中華で忘年会。
WAKさん、NAKさん、KOMさん、KANさん相変わらずお元気、今年退職した若い年寄りのKANAさんも初参加。
飲み放題なので少々飲みすぎた。

□今日はトリオだった
退職後は音楽活動に勤しんでいるHIRさんの懐メロバンドを聴きに、我孫子市の「南まち協フェスティバル」に行った。今回は３人編成のトリオだった。聞きにいく度に編成が変わっているような気がする。

□スマホ注文で苦労する。
昔の仲間で飲み会、新しく開店したおでん屋でワイワイ飲んだ。
最近の風潮で、注文はスマホ。最初はなかなか勝手が分からず苦労した。
前回来れなかったSSKさんも元気に参加、未だ現役のMIYさんのギリシャ出張の話を聞く。HANさん相変わらず飄々としている。今回からHIRさんも参加。

□上期末残暑気払い
今日で上期の英会話講習が終わった、というわけで残暑気払いも兼ねた懇親会。
お酒を飲まない先生も参加され、皆で楽しく過ごした。下期からは曜日も替わり生徒も半分入れ替わる、科警研の人や作家さんともお別れなので少し淋しい。
