Replacement of Wi‑Fi Router
I finally replaced my old Air router — a fossilized Wi‑Fi 4 model — with a brand‑new Wi‑Fi 7 one. The 13‑year‑old router was traded in for 1,000 yen.
The new router is twice as fast as the old one, and it could be even faster if my old PC had a modern 5 GHz Wi‑Fi receiver.
The replacement and the subsequent adjustments for all the devices — including my PC, mobile phones, tablets, and Chromecast — were a bit troublesome, though.
Anyway, I now have a faster and more secure Wi‑Fi environment.

Better than Human?
I paid my municipal property tax at an ATM using the Pay-easy system. It was my first time using it, but it was quicker and more convenient than being served by a human clerk.
By the way, does ATM stand for Automated Tax Machine?

E-filing of tax forms
I e-filed the returns for corporate tax, local tax, and consumption tax for my micro-business using the e-Tax and eLTAX systems.
It was my first time using these systems for the business, so I had some difficulties learning how they work. Still, I managed to handle it.
After all, electronic filing is much better than filling out paper forms by hand.

Fixing the Symptom?
I happened to notice that the battery indicator on my old iPhone is working again. It had stopped functioning right after I updated the iPhone’s OS. Although resetting the device didn’t seem to have any effect at first, the indicator eventually came back.
It may simply take a few days for the reset to become effective.
Anyway, all’s well that ends well.

Ignoring can be a Kind of Wisdom
I tried several fixes I found online, such as resetting the device, but nothing solved the problem. In the end, I decided to ignore the indicator for the sake of my peace of mind.

Uchiwa-fan-style Antenna
The structure is very simple—basically just an uchiwa with aluminum foil attached. To make it even easier, I used a disposable aluminum bowl instead of foil.
Despite its humble appearance, the antenna works surprisingly well.

□古いクロームキャストではTVにキャストできない。
この１０月から、ネットのみの視聴者からも視聴料を取れるようにしたNHK法の改定とあわせて、NHKのWebサービスがNHK ONEとして統合化された。
見落とし番組が簡単に再生できるなど良い点もあるのだが、今まで出来たipadからのTVへの投影が出来なくなった。正確に言うと、最新のTVやクロームキャストからなら出来るらしいのだが、旧世代のクロームキャストではキャストできなかった。
なんだかなあ、がっかりだなあ、SIGH。
NHK様、アプリをバージョンアップして出来るようにしてくれませんか。

□なんだタダではなかったんだ（T＿T）
UQスマホの無料かけ放題２４時間に入っていると、留守録の入った「電話基本パック」が無料になると思ってオプションに追加したのだが、実は無料なのはキャンペーン期間中の数ヶ月だけだった（がっかり）ので解除した。
実際のところ、月４００円払うほどには留守録の必要は無かった。
LINE使用不可！？ ― 2025/10/31 00:21
□かろうじてセーフ。
ぼんやりとTVのニュースを見ていたら、古いiPhoneでは「LINE」が使えなくなると言う。11月のバージョンアップに伴い、iOS15以上でないと動かなくなるそうだ。慌てて、自分のiPhone6S（7年物）を確認するとiOS15.8.5であり、かろうじてセーフだった。
しかし、多分次のバージョンアップではアウトだろう、こうやって古いスマホが使えなくなっていくんだと、妙に納得した。一度取り換えた電池の容量も80％を切りそうになってきているし、そろそろ替え時ということか。できれば、スマホ新法の対応品が出回る来年までは、何とか使い続けたいものだ。

□令和８年分 公的年金等の受給者の扶養親族等申告書
日本年金機構から、長い名前の申告書の入った「大切なお知らせ」が届いた。
届け出ないと損しそうなので、これも、マイナポータルからサクッと提出した。
最近、電子提出ばかりだな。
